Al Pont de Ferr offers refreshingly original dishes of Italian Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant has been working for 30 years already. The name comes from the name of the iron bridge located nearby. The restaurant is situated on the bank of Naviglio Grande canal. Though the venue has a look of working class trattoria, this is a hidden gem of Milan. You will be surprised to discover the explosive mix of haute cuisine with conventional traditional approach. Milan does not want to forget its amazing history and traditions therefore you will find this tight connection even in the most avant-garde venues. The owner of the restaurant is Maida, who calls herself “the first female sommelier in Italy”. Maida is a champagne importer. She has more than 500 items of vintage labels. The chef of “Al Pont de Ferr” Matias Perdomo is Uruguayan. He personally selects the ingredients at the Milano Fish Market. Matias has a Michelin star.

The extraordinary approach to cooking made the chef famous. Such treats as chocolate cigaro or candied onion became popular fast. One of his creations “Zen garden with fishes” presents a mosaic of seafood: prawns, scampi, scallops. They are prepared on red-hot stones gathered on the bank of Ticino river.

The restaurant has casual charm and the prices are not inflated. You can find interesting regional ingredients and dishes in this restaurant such as purée of cardoons and baccalà (dried cod) on a soup of fennel, fonduta piemontese (fondue) and rabbit stew.

All dishes in Al Pont de Ferr are prepared with attention to detail so if you want to try the Mediterranean cuisine with creative approach, you are invited to the Naviglio Grande canal, where this extraordinary dining venue is located. As you try delicious dishes, do not forget to leave some room for the dessert.  The tasting menu costs 65 euros. You can try beef sashimi, foie gras, umeboshi plums, bernaise sauce “Summertime” risotto.
