Le Gavroche is the restaurant that tries to reach perfection in all aspects. It is not surprising that this restaurant was the first in UK awarded three Michelin star. Michel Roux Jr is the chef in the restaurant. He took the job over from his father, who also worked as a chef in Le Gavroche.

The restaurant is located at 43 Upper Brook Street in Mayfair, London. Le Gavroche specializes on classic French dishes that were updated a bit to meet modern requirements. When classic dishes are revisited and modern twist is added, they acquire special charm. This place is popular and fully booked, as a rule.

Le Gavroche is a bastion of classic French cuisine. It is impossible to determine the signature dish as the menu includes many dishes honed to perfection. Try Coeur d’artichaut Lucullus – artichoke mousse with black truffle with unexpected combo of chicken mousse and foie gras. The sophisticated dish “Râble de lapi et galette au Parmesan” is a roast saddle made of rabbit served with crisp potatoes and cheese Parmesan. Many complicated dishes prepared here are great samples of avant-garde cooking. Le Gavroche is famous for its souffles. The chef plays with palates of visitors offering incredible blends.

The restaurant is associated with luxury meal. Langoustines, lobster mousse with caviar and other expensive meals are cooked with talented creativity of Michel Roux Jr.

There is intimate private dining space for up to 6 people “The Chef’s Library”. You will learn more about the history of the place after it was opened in 1967.

There are many famous chefs that worked for this restaurant. Le Gavroche entered the Guinness Book as the restaurant that served the most expensive meal when in 1997 three people spent $20,945 per head on dinner with several bottles of wine included.  That does not mean that prices are huge here. For instance, one of the options offered here is a lunch at fixed price that costs about 50 pounds.

The place is decorated in classical respectable style. Those who love traditional things and conservative repertoire of soufflés, tartares, mousselines, terrines, can have excellent time here.

Even if the whole world is waiting for you, you should take a break and visit Le Gavroche.
