Don Carlos is a restaurant with intimate and refined ambience. The interior is decorated with artworks from the Scala Theatre. The dishes of traditional Italian cuisine are lit with illumination of antique silver candelabra. The dining hall is decorated in traditional style with framed pictures hanged on the wall. The soft light soothes the visitors coming to the restaurant.

The menu, devised by the chef Agnelo Gangemi, is unusual and sophisticated. The Mediterranean cuisine is at the basis of the cuisine. That means that mainly seasonal dishes are used for cooking. In the opinion of Agnelo Gangemi, the table should reflect the local traditions and cuisine. This is the unwritten rule. There are three very simple rules that help the chef make fantastic dishes: seasonal products, maximum product freshness and territoriality. Use of seasonal produce helps him capture the essence of the certain period of the year: its scents, colors and flavors. The ingredient must necessarily be fresh to be enjoyed fully. He also expresses view, that chefs should take advantage of the Italian territory, which gives visitors the products that are the envy of the world.

There are more than 200 labels in the wine chart of the restaurant, which are stored in the wine cellar of the place. Don Carlos belongs to the most exclusive restaurants of Milan that is valued for superb cuisine, luxury service and great setting.a

There is also opportunity to dine outdoors when the weather permits it. People can come to Don Carlos after theatre performances.

The blend of luxury and retro creates a unique atmosphere at the restaurant. It was created to commemorate maestro Giuseppe Verdi who lived long in the Suite of the Grand Hotel et de Milan. At that place some operas were composed.

Agnelo Gangemi discovered his passion to cooking when he was a boy so he was keen to become a chef in the childhood. It happened out of necessity. His parents and older sister worked when he came home and he had to care about himself on his own. As he cooked, the passion to this activity grew.

The venue pays tributes to traditions. There is the remains of the ancient roman wall that dates back to 250 A.D. so you can admire it there.

Dinner in the restaurant after the opera at La Scala makes the evening bright. Even if you are not hungry, have a drink at the elegant bar with puffed chairs to make this evening complete. Food, service and location leave memorable experience.

You will have to pay from 70 to 90 € per person. The tasting menu includes 8 courses and will cost you € 85 per person without wine.
