La Habichuela has been Cancun legend since 1977. Armando Pezzotti opened the restaurant in what was once his home. Today this restaurant is a Mecca for people who appreciate Mexican spices and fresh sea food. The restaurant has a warm atmosphere, home like décor, soft lights and traditional music set a romantic mood. Lovely garden is perfect setting for a lunch. However, people come here for The ‘Famous Cocobichuela’, unique curry dish which comes in coconut shell. Chunks of tender lobster and shrimps are cocked with creamy curry sauce and served with rice and tropical fruits. La Habichuela owner claims that he served more then 350 000 of those dishes. Roasted duck is cooked in pear sauce, flamed with kirsch and served in wine sauce. Chicken in mole comes in the traditional finely-ground dark puebla sauce. Among Tex-Mex dishes are wide range of fajitas and enchiladas which are served with refined beans and guacamole. Margaritas are excellent, service is off the charts, staff is very hospitable, quick and attentive. Highly recommended stop for a perfect Mexican experience.
